Last Light: Nature Comes to Life

Forests, woodland, water and snow-covered landscapes: take a fresh look at Last Light’s environments and our work on weather and seasons.

The world of Last Light continues to take shape. Today, we’re sharing a new look at our work on nature, atmosphere and seasons.

This video takes you from moss and leaf-covered ground to the forest canopy, through woodland, along the water’s edge and into a snow-covered forest. These different perspectives show the details and moods we are gradually building for the game.

Last Light — Weather, Seasons & Nature | Development Preview

A twelve-month year

Our work on seasons is built around a twelve-month annual cycle. Our goal is to make the passage of time part of the world’s identity, with weather, temperature and seasonal atmosphere central to that work.

This montage brings together several development previews, including a snowy variation. It is not yet a continuous demonstration of the entire annual cycle.

From forest floor to landscape

We are working on both wide views and the details players will see up close: ground relief, rocks, moss, fallen leaves, vegetation and water. Our ambition is to create environments that invite you to slow down, look around and explore.

Last Light is still in development. The elements shown may change as we refine the systems and visual direction.

Thank you for following the progress of our small independent studio. Which atmosphere would you like to see in a future preview: a rain-soaked forest, autumn colours or a winter night?

Welcome to Last Light Workshop Studio: Our Journey Begins

We are opening our News section by introducing our studio, the vision behind Last Light, and what we plan to share throughout development.

Today, we are opening the News section of our website. This is where we will share important milestones in the development of Last Light, studio updates, selected behind-the-scenes material, and announcements as the project continues to evolve.

A studio built around a shared passion

Last Light Workshop Studio Inc. is an independent video game development studio based in Québec, Canada. The studio was founded on March 24, 2026, by three friends brought together by a shared passion for video games, survival, and immersive experiences.

After years of exploring virtual worlds, overcoming challenges together, and discussing what makes an experience truly memorable, we decided to create the kind of game we had always wanted to play ourselves.

Our goal is to build grounded worlds where atmosphere, player freedom, and gameplay systems support one another rather than existing as separate features.

Our first project: Last Light

Last Light is a post-apocalyptic survival game currently in development.

Players will step into the role of an ordinary person trying to keep moving forward in a world transformed by collapse, danger, and uncertainty. Exploration, adaptation, the decisions made along the way, and their consequences will help shape a personal story of survival.

We want to create an experience that rewards observation, preparation, and individual choices instead of forcing every player down a single predetermined path.

Building strong foundations

Last Light is still in development. We are currently building, connecting, and testing the foundations required by the project, including characters, survival systems, the environment, human and zombie behavior, and combat interactions.

These elements will continue to evolve. Visuals, features, and content shown during development should therefore not be considered final.

We would rather communicate honestly, share progress we can genuinely stand behind, and avoid announcing dates or features before the project is ready to support those promises.

What you will find in our News section

As development progresses, this section may include:

  • updates on the development of Last Light;
  • behind-the-scenes looks at production;
  • explanations of selected creative and technical decisions;
  • studio and community announcements;
  • news about our tools and resources for creators, including Asset Deep Exporter.

Not every internal milestone will automatically become a public announcement. We will share material when it is clear, useful, and representative of the direction of the project.

Be part of the journey

Development is only beginning, and our community will grow alongside the project. You can already follow our official YouTube and Facebook channels for future updates.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. The world of Last Light is still being built, but the journey has already started.
